The Zen Den Residence is a luxury waterfront landscape renovation of the existing DSDG residence, located on New Pass in Sarasota, Florida. This modern coastal landscape architecture project transforms the property into a series of immersive outdoor environments, thoughtfully connecting architecture, water, and garden through intentional spatial design.

The landscape is organized into three distinct yet cohesive outdoor rooms: a lush motor court, a contemplative Zen garden, and a dynamic waterfront garden. The motor court features simple, refined hardscape gestures softened by tropical vegetation and large palms that transition the scale of the home to a pedestrian level. Shellcrete paving subtly references the Gulf of Mexico, reinforcing the coastal character of this Sarasota waterfront residence.

At the heart of the property, the Zen garden introduces tranquility through raked sand patterns, oolite walls sourced from the site, and a cantilevered walkway that allows the garden to be experienced from elevated platforms. A fountain anchors the Zen Den pavilion, while a yoga deck cantilevers over a dramatic 75-foot fountain, positioned to capture sea breezes from New Pass. These layered water features create a calming sensory experience while utilizing the site’s natural elevation changes.

The waterfront garden cascades toward the shoreline with stepped bodies of water and a new boardwalk connecting the dock and deck. Lush, coastally resilient vegetation and palms frame views of the Gulf from the pool and patios, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor living.
